Relationship between JOHN 13:35 & 1 Corinthians 12

Of course, the apostle Paul was talking about the Corinth church that time, being a very diverse church, so many issues arising, troubling and disturbing the once united body.  Which, we all know, is still happening in different churches today.

This is the reason why the church of Christ should not stop in 1 Corinthians 12 only.  For after this, the apostle Paul has a more important instruction for all of us.  He said in 1 Corinthians 12:31 "But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way."  And he proceeded to tell us 1 Corinthians 13.  To summarize - any believer, even though he has the greatest spiritual gift compared to others, if he does not have love in his heart, he is nothing and his gift is for nothing.

The apostle Paul is telling us specifically that even though we are of diverse nature, we can still be united by getting our directions from the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Head, and loving and respecting other members of the body. When Christ becomes the center of an individual he automatically comes into the BODY. For it was the Lord who arranged us just as He wanted us to be, like the way He had assembled the parts of our body.  (1 Corinthians 12:18)  No one is higher than the other....you are not important than me....as I am not more favored than you.  No one is given special treatment, but all are treated equally by God (Acts 10:34).   As all we should do to our brothers in Christ. We should live in the LOVE OF CHRIST!!

God's love uniting us in our diversity...that His love and goodness might flow through you and me.
